Oral surgery deals with the surgical care of the teeth and the mouth – from tooth extraction to the removal of wisdom teeth. At our practice these procedures are carried out by an experienced oral surgeon, under local anaesthesia and as gently as possible, so that you receive calm and pain-free care throughout.
We always aim to preserve your own teeth – extraction is only considered when a tooth can no longer be saved. You can read more about this on the tooth-preserving treatments page.
Oral surgery procedures are performed by an experienced oral surgeon, so that your care is safe and smooth.
Tooth extraction, wisdom tooth removal and oral surgery procedures.
Currently on maternity leave.
Tooth extraction is carried out when a tooth can no longer be saved – for example due to advanced decay, fracture, root inflammation or severe periodontal disease. The procedure is performed painlessly, under local anaesthesia.
After the extraction we give you detailed aftercare advice so the wound heals quickly and without problems. We offer several solutions to replace the missing tooth – from prosthetics to implants.
Wisdom teeth often fail to erupt properly due to lack of space, which can cause pain, inflammation, damage to the neighbouring teeth or crowding of the teeth. In such cases their removal may be warranted.
Depending on the situation, the procedure is carried out by simple extraction or surgically (in the case of a partially or fully impacted tooth in the bone) – in every case under anaesthesia and gently. We draw up the exact plan at the consultation, based on an X-ray.
Some procedures serve as preparation before dental implantation – when there is not enough bone for the stable placement of the implant:
The price depends on the type and complexity of the procedure (simple or surgical removal). We give you the exact cost after the examination, based on an individual plan. You can find current fees on our price list page.
Does tooth extraction hurt?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia, so you feel no pain during the extraction. Any mild discomfort once the anaesthesia wears off can be managed well with the usual painkillers.
Do all wisdom teeth need to be removed?
No. If a wisdom tooth has erupted properly and causes no problems, it can be kept. Removal is warranted when it causes pain, inflammation or damage to the neighbouring teeth.
How long does healing take after an extraction?
The wound heals within a few days, and full healing may take a couple of weeks. Following the aftercare advice helps a great deal towards smooth healing.
What should I do after the procedure?
Avoid hot food and drink and smoking, apply a cold compress in the first few hours, and follow the aftercare advice you receive. In case of bleeding or strong pain, contact us.
